Sensei Brad Jones Sensei Brad Jones is a 6th degree black belt who was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada in 1955 and began his Karate training in 1969. He is an active member of the Japan Karate Association (JKA), has made several trips to Europe and Japan for training and has practiced under many masters of the sport.
Mr. Jones has had a very successful competitive career, competing at the national level from 1980 to 1998. Sensei Jones retired from competition in 1990 to redirect his focus on teaching and coaching. He has completed the 3M National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) recently obtaining his Level IV designation. |

Sempai Neville Longhurst Sempai Neville Longhurst, a member of Brad Jones Karate Do has been training in the art of Shotokan Karate since 1982. He has has his sandan (3rd degree) black belt and did his 1st and 2nd degree black belt tests with the father of canadian karate-do, O-Sensei Masami Tsurouka. He has been training for 25 years now.
Sempai Longhurst has been actively involved in competition for many years, both as a competitor and as a coach. He has been coaching for about 9 years now, and has done the NCCP program.
In 2000 Sempai Longhurst was the Tsurouka cup winner, and in 2002 he was the 1st runner up for the coach of the year in our community, an award that was presented by 3M CANADA. Newmarket's mayor Tom Taylor also presented him with an award.
Sempai Longhurst enjoys helping kids and adults achieve their goals. "We have a great team this year and I am very proud of them. They have learned a lot and it is showing in tournaments." |

George Usher George started training in 1995 and obtained his black belt in December of 2003. He has been coaching since 2000 and is certified NCCP Level I, although he has also completed the NCCP theory courses to Level III. He has also taken Sport First Aid Courses and attended several Martial Art conferences and seminars

Kevin Jackson Kevin started training in 2002 and earned his Shodan in 2006 under Brad Jones, certified by JKA in 2007. He competed at Karate Ontario tournaments from 2003 to 2007, earning several medals in Kumite, trains weekly at Brad Jones Karate-do and participates in the Canadian JKA Koyo training progam with Sensei Tanaka and Seiki Sensei in Ottawa.
"Working with competitors who are self-motivated to become the best they can is very rewarding", says Kevin, "they only get as much out of it as they put in - in fact if they have the motivation there is no limit to what they can do." |
